Throggs Neck Community Center
​The program at Throggs Neck Community Center is a DYCD-funded COMPASS site. Our afterschool program offers a variety of activities, beginning each day with a healthy snack. Members then start their afternoons with Power Hour.
Summer Day Camp
Our free DYCD Summer Day Camp runs for 7 weeks from early July to mid-August. The program operates Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
During the camp, members participate in various activities, including several off-site trips throughout New York City. The summer programming is designed to support academic, social, and emotional growth while providing extensive exposure to the world. Registration for the summer day camp begins in April.
Brent's Club
Ages 10-18 years old
In honor of the Shapiro Foundation and the late Brent Shapiro, Brent’s Club is a drug awareness program dedicated to teaching youth the importance of living above the influence. The program takes a unique approach to drug prevention by providing members with incentives for maintaining sobriety.
Youth of the Year
The Youth of the Year is the highest honor a Boys & Girls Club member can receive. The selected teen, known as the National Youth of the Year, represents the Boys & Girls Clubs of America and the voices of millions of Club youth. For over 75 years, the Youth of the Year program has recognized exceptional young people for their leadership, service, academic excellence, and commitment to health and wellbeing.
Teen Services Program
After-school Program
Hours of Operation: Mon through Fri 5 PM to 8 PM
Our Teen Services Program promotes the positive development of adolescents through curriculum-guided group discussions, interactive activities, and community service learning. We provide positive adult guidance and aim to empower teens with tools and opportunities to build social-emotional skills, strengthen relationships, and avoid negative behaviors.

YOUTH DEVELOPMENT TRAINING

Our night center program operates Monday through Friday from 6:00 PM to 9 PM
Our DYCD-funded program is tailored to the teen population in the community. We offer tutoring and college prep work, including resume and cover letter development through our Learn to Work Program. Participants also have the opportunity to join college tours and engage in community service events.

SMART GIRLS

Ages 11 to 18
The Smart Girls Program is designed to address the developmental needs of young girls through health, fitness, prevention education, and self-esteem enhancement. This program aims to support and empower girls as they grow and develop.

PASSPORT TO MANHOOD

Ages 11 to 18
Passport to Manhood promotes and teaches responsibility to young boys by focusing on various aspects of manhood through interactive activities.
Physical Fitness
Our Physical Education Program helps members develop fitness and motor skills through engaging activities and friendly competition. This program fosters teamwork and a sense of fair play. We also offer intramural leagues in various sports and provide a weight room for members aged 15 to 18.
Digital Literacy
Ages 8-15
Our Digital Literacy Essentials program builds foundational technology skills, including online safety, typing, web search, media collaboration, and gaming.
In today's digital age, youth need strong digital literacy skills to connect with others, learn online, and prepare for future success. This program offers engaging project experiences that guide members in exploring digital safety, privacy, presence, online communication, and retro gaming.
Smart Moves
Skills, Mastery, and Resistance Training (SMART)

SMART is a nationally acclaimed prevention program that focuses on honing decision-making and critical thinking skills. Members are engaged in activities designed to help them avoid and resist peer pressure, equipping them with strategies to make positive choices.
DIY Stem
Ages 6-13
STEM Program

Our STEM Program inspires members to explore the exciting fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. Each week, members engage in activities and experiments focused on one or more of these components, fostering curiosity and hands-on learning.
Triple Play/ Healthy Habits
Our Recreational Activities Program focuses on promoting healthy living and physical fitness through engaging activities. The curriculum emphasizes the importance of healthy eating and regular exercise, teaching members about food groups and proper exercise techniques. These activities support social and emotional development while enhancing physical well-being. Additionally, they provide opportunities for youth to explore their interests and creativity.
Arts & Crafts
Arts Program
Members receive instruction in various aspects of art through age-appropriate activities. They learn to draw, paint, and create diverse art projects, exploring different techniques and mediums.
