Lucile Palmaro
The Lucile Palmaro Clubhouse, which opened in 1969, is the original Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club facility in The Bronx, NY. It is the largest of Kips Bay’s 10 direct service sites, enrolling approximately 57% of Kips Bay’s membership.
The Palmaro Clubhouse and the adjacent Frederic R. Coudert Sports Complex have unique amenities that are available to all Club members, irrespective of the Kips Bay location they regularly attend. They include:
Lucile Palmaro Clubhouse Programs
Our state-of-the-art sports complex features an ice skating rink, offering members a range of opportunities to participate in competitive sports and intramural games. Through tournaments and instructional clinics, members develop essential skills such as teamwork, sportsmanship, fair play, and leadership.

We offer a diverse array of sports, including baseball, basketball, flag football, street hockey, ice skating, girls’ softball, and soccer. Our Physical Education program further enhances members' fitness and motor skills.
In addition to sports activities and friendly competition, we provide intramural leagues in various sports and a weight room for members aged 15 to 18.
OUR AFTERSCHOOL PROGRAM IS FOR AGES 6-18.
SCHEDULED KIPS BAY BUSES WILL TRANSPORT YOUNGSTERS FROM ALL SITES TO THE PALMARO CLUBHOUSE TO USE THE FACILITIES.
Athletics Programs
After-school Program
Hours of Operation: Mon through Fri 2:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Academies: (Seasonal on Saturdays – 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.)
The primary goal of our Athletics Program is to introduce members to a variety of sports, focusing on conditioning, training, and preparing them for tournament competition.

Our Physical Education component helps members develop fitness and motor skills through engaging activities and friendly competition. While participation is never mandatory, all members are encouraged to join in.
​
Our state-of-the-art sports complex includes an ice-skating rink, a baseball field, and a 150’ x 100’ indoor turf field under a dome, which is used for various sports workouts and training. Members have the opportunity to participate in both competitive sports and intramural games.

Through tournaments and instructional clinics, members learn teamwork, sportsmanship, fair play, and leadership. We offer a wide range of sports, including baseball, basketball, flag football, street hockey, ice hockey, ice skating, girls’ softball, boxing workouts, and more.
AQUATICS PROGRAM

After-school Program
Hours of Operation: Mon through Fri 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Recreational Swim: This program offers members the opportunity to practice their swimming skills while enjoying fun, social interactions with peers. It’s a great way to stay active and make new friends in the water.

Learn-to-Swim: Our Learn-to-Swim Program caters to all skill levels with a unique six-level instructional approach that sets us apart from other aquatic training. Our instructors are trained and certified by the American Red Cross, ensuring high-quality instruction and safety.

Swim Team: The Kips Bay Makos Swim Team competes against other swim clubs, including those from Boys & Girls Clubs and the YMCA. To join, members must be able to swim 25 yards of both freestyle and backstroke.
BASKETBALL AND BASEBALL ACADEMIES​
Our intense, 10-week instructional program is designed for boys and girls ages 6 to 10. The registration fee for the program is $200.00.
The Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club Basketball and Baseball Academies are developmental programs that offer members the chance to learn sportsmanship, develop a positive self-image, and receive mentorship while mastering the games of basketball and baseball. Our experienced instructors are dedicated to empowering youth through these sports and educational opportunities.
Each session focuses on the fundamentals of the game with an emphasis on skill development and making learning enjoyable. Members engage in a variety of skill-building drills that help them learn the game in a safe, fun-filled environment.
Cadet Program

6:00 p.m.
Our Cadet Program, designed exclusively for club members aged 6 to 9, offers a fun and safe environment with scheduled, age-appropriate activities aimed at building life skills. Most importantly, we provide our young members with a safe haven where they can hang out and be themselves.

SPORTS AROUND THE WORLD

The Sport Around The World Program is designed to introduce members to a variety of sports played in different countries. Participants will not only learn the rules of each game but also gain an appreciation for the unique and diverse cultures from which these sports originate.

SMART KIDS' PROGRAM

The Smart Kids’ Program is a skills-based initiative that focuses on self-awareness, decision-making, friendship, bullying, emotions, and more. The program emphasizes making decisions that lead to positive outcomes.

GOALS FOR GROWTH
​
The Goals for Growth program encourages members to discuss setting attainable goals, developing actionable plans to achieve those goals, and the importance of committing to their objectives. Through this program, members learn about self-growth, empowerment, and discipline.

HOMEWORK ASSISTANCE PROGRAM​
Our Homework Assistance Program provides dedicated support to help members tackle their academic assignments. We offer a structured environment where students can receive guidance on their homework, improve their study skills, and build confidence in their academic abilities. Our goal is to ensure that each member has the resources and support needed to succeed in their schoolwork.

The Tweens’ Program is designed to help 10-year-old members transition smoothly into their preteen years. It provides a fun and safe environment with age-appropriate activities aimed at building essential life skills.
The program promotes positive youth development through mentoring, curriculum-guided sessions, interactive group discussions, and community service learning. Our goal is to empower tweens with the tools they need to successfully navigate this important stage of their growth.
Emotional Wellness Program

By fostering an open and supportive environment, we encourage kids to seek help for any issue, from urgent concerns like self-harm to everyday challenges such as career choices or relationship dilemmas.
Our program provides a safe space for members to explore their feelings and connect with support groups, helping them build strong, positive bonds within their community. Here, help is always accessible, and support is always just a step away.

DIGITAL LITERACY
